Honduras Geology (updated 5/15/98) The Empresa Nacional de Energía Eléctrica or ENEE is the state-controlled electrical utility in Honduras. ENEE employees two geologists as well as a number of meteorologists and hydrologist. ENEE role in the geosciences has involved assessment of sites for hydroelectric projects and geothermal investigations, studies of soil erosion in watershed, and measurements of flow in rivers. Currently ENEE is involved with several major hydroelectric projects which are at various levels of study, from the existing El Cajon project to planned dams on the Rios Patuca, Wampu, and Cangrejal among others. The planned projects are mostly privately financed in which ENEE geologists have a limited role.
