Course description:  Course is an overview of Plate tectonics.  We will cover the basics of what happens at plate margins, the process-response feedbacks that occur and how these processes result in the rocks, structures and landscapes.

Assessment: Two in-class exams (100 pts each) and one final exam (100 pts).  There will be seven discussions sessions with short quizzes (10 pt each) based on readings (including non-text) and four problem sets (15 pts each).  There are 430 possible points in the class.  I anticipate lecturing Mondays and Wednesdays with Fridays being  discussion/problem set days.

Field Trip:  TBD

Attendance: Students are expected to attend classes.

How to do well in this class: Get as many point as possible.

1) read material - before class

2) come to class - pay attention, take notes, ask questions if something is not clear.

3) Study - re-read materials and notes before quizzes and exams.

4) Show up and take the quizzes and exams. hint: the quizzes are "open book", however, you do not have time to look through material during quiz.

5) Be curious
