Stop 4 - Almost a tranlucient layer coats this rock.

Stop 4 - Wonderful quartz veining is seen in this Serpentine rock.

Stop 5 - Calaveras fm. Part of the western block. When the oceanic plate went under the continental plate the Calaveras fm was formed as metamorphic rock were formed. Magma pushed the sedimentary rocks up and out. Slate, Philite, and Schist were created as a result of a lot of pressure but little heat. Quartz intrusions could also be seen at this stop.

Stop 5 - Back into the waiting vans.

Stop 6 - Big Oak Flat - Quartz vein.
